A Great Experience
for Every Child

  • We work to get to know each child to help them find a program that best suits them.
  • We keep class sizes small with low student to teacher ratios.
  • We meet each child where they are, tailoring the program to the needs of the class.
  • We ensure every child is listened to, respected, and encouraged to participate.

Our goal is to simply let kids explore and enjoy art for art's sake.

Why Participate In The Arts?

There are countless benefits of engaging in the arts. Not only do they provide the opportunity to develop technical skills, but participating in the arts also cultivates a child’s emotional awareness and self-expression. When done in a safe and encouraging environment, the arts – no matter what medium is used – allow for experimentation, expression, and discovery, which foster confidence, creativity, and problem solving.

Shelley has created a safe and welcoming space for all children. Our family can't say enough good things about the programs offered there. Both of my children ask to return to classes - always filled with fun and superb arts education!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why are there no classes offered on Saturday?

In support of providing a healthy work-life balance for our staff at Arts Abound, we have discontinued our Saturday classes. We have many classes offered during the week and hope that you will be able to join us for one of those classes.

  • Does Arts Abound offer classes for children living with disabilities?

We feel that the arts are a wonderful opportunity for children of all abilities to express themselves. Our programs have opportunities for inclusion that we are happy to discuss with you.

Arts Abound is unable to provide any:
    - Personal care support (e.g. administering medication, toileting, feeding)
    - 1:1 Behavioural support to participate in programs
    - Support for any violent and aggressive behaviours
If your child requires support beyond what we are able to offer, you are welcome to send a qualified support worker to help them participate in class. Please reach out to discuss your child's needs.

  • Does Arts Abound have classes for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders?

Arts Abound does not have any programs specifically designed for children with ASD; however, we have many students with ASD who successfully participate independently in programming at Arts Abound. Classes at Arts Abound are not alternatives to ABA Therapy and/or Social and Group Skills Programs.

In determining if classes at Arts Abound are the right fit for your child on the Autism Spectrum, here are some skills needed to participate successfully in classes:
    - Follow two-step instructions
    - Independently regulate emotions
    - Participate safely in group activities
    - Turn taking
    - Sharing materials
    - Communicate with instructor

If your child is still working on these skills, our Arts For All class might be an appropriate fit, or we are happy to make a recommendation for a Social/Group Skills class in the area that will help prepare your child for class participation. Please reach out if you are unsure if our classes are an appropriate fit.

  • Does my child need to wear a mask to class at Arts Abound?

Masks are optional for all students and staff at Arts Abound. In an effort to maintain a safe environment for our immunocompromised students, masks are required for any student who has a cough or cold AND/OR for any student who has had a fever in the past 48 hours.

  • Why does Arts Abound display the Progressive Pride Flag year round?

Arts Abound is committed to creating a safe, supportive and encouraging space for all members and allies of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Bullying & harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.

  • Are there make up classes for classes cancelled due to weather?

Our class schedule, allows for one cancelled class per semester that will not be made up. In the event that there is more than one class cancelled due to weather or instructor illness, a make up class will be scheduled.
