A Great Experience
for Every Child
- We get to know each child before they sign up so we can find the program that best suits them.
- We keep class sizes small with low student to teacher ratios.
- We meet each child where they are, tailoring the program to match their abilities and needs.
- We ensure every child is listened to, respected, and encouraged to participate.
- All of our teachers are trained and experienced in working with varying abilities and needs.
Our goal is to simply let kids explore and enjoy art for art's sake.
Why Participate In The Arts?
There are countless benefits of engaging in the arts. Not only do they provide the opportunity to develop technical skills, but participating in the arts also cultivates a child’s emotional awareness and self-expression. When done in a safe and encouraging environment, the arts – no matter what medium is used – allow for experimentation, expression, and discovery, which foster confidence, creativity, and problem solving.
Shelley has created a safe and welcoming space for all children. Our family can't say enough good things about the programs offered there. Both of my children ask to return to PD Day Camps and Date Nights - always filled with fun and superb arts education! I highly recommend this as a place for all children and especially for those who may need a few extra accommodations. Shelley knows kids and easily makes programs work for each individual child!Karen, Parent
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Arts Abound offer classes for children living with special needs?
Absolutely! We feel that the arts are a wonderful opportunity for children of all abilities to express themselves. We have some programs designed specially for exceptional children. For all of our programming, we strive to have an inclusive environment and would love to work with you and your exceptional child to find a program where they can shine!
Will classes be in person for Fall 2021?
As the pandemic continues, our understanding of the virus and the needs of our students continue to evolve. While we appreciated the consistency that online programming allowed us last year, we feel strongly that it is time to return to in-person classes. We have worked hard to put measures in place to help keep our staff and students safe, while helping to meet their need for social interactions and a sense of belonging that cannot be accomplished over Zoom.
While our goal is to be in-person, there may be times during the year that we will need to move online either due to provincial mandate or by public health due to a risk of exposure. REFUNDS/CREDIT WILL NOT BE ISSUED IF CLASSES ARE MOVED ONLINE, NO EXCEPTIONS.
Here is an overview of some of the measures being taken to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 at Arts Abound:
• Smaller class sizes
• Physical distancing during classes
• Regular sanitizing of hands
• Mandatory masking for all staff and students
• COVID-19 screening for all staff and students
• Implementation of a vaccination policy (see below)
• Regular disinfection of high touch surfaces and shared materials
• Daily sanitization of all rooms
• Air purification/exchange units located throughout the studio
• Limited traffic in studio (i.e., fewer classes and lobby remains closed)
Will my child need to wear a mask?
To reduce the spread of COVID-19, masks will be required for anyone entering Arts Abound. Students, staff, and volunteers must wear their mask for the duration of their class(es). Masks may be removed in the washrooms and when taking a drink (while socially distanced). Children under the age of 2 will be exempt from this policy.
Does Arts Abound have a vaccination policy?
As an inclusive space that offers programs for vulnerable populations, Arts Abound is required to have a vaccination policy. We are committed to continue to offer a safe and inclusive environment for the most vulnerable in our community. All eligible (aged 12+) staff, volunteers, and participants will be required to show proof of vaccination to participate in activities. This includes any adults accompanying students as inclusion support or in our toddler/preschool class. Exceptions to the vaccination policy will be made on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the director and will require regular testing at the expense of the participant.
Anyone found falsifying proof of vaccination and/or test results will be removed from programs immediately, without refund.
DISCLAIMER: This vaccination policy does not supersede any provincial vaccine mandates and will be updated to reflect any changes introduced by the provincial government.
