CLASS POLICIES

ATTENDANCE POLICY
Theatre is a team effort, and every performer plays a vital role in telling the story. As such, attendance is essential. Studio to Stage and Acting Out are a year-long commitment, and students are expected to attend all classes, rehearsals, and performances scheduled for their group.

Due to the fast-paced nature of rehearsals, it is not always possible to catch up students who miss a class. If your performer will be absent, please notify us as far in advance as possible so we can adjust our plans accordingly. If a student misses a substantial portion of the material for a scene, they may be removed from that scene. These decisions are made on a case-by-case basis and are guided by the level of disruption to the rest of the cast. In some cases, make-up sessions with an instructor may be available at the parents’ expense.

The final month of rehearsals is critical as we bring the entire production together. Absences during this period can significantly disrupt the process and may result in a student being removed from parts of the production. These decisions will also be made on a case-by-case basis. Attendance is mandatory at our in-studio and on-stage dress rehearsals.

Performances are mandatory. Each student has a unique role in the production, and missing a performance significantly impacts the cast’s ability to perform successfully. If a student cannot attend all scheduled performances, they will be removed from the production.

REFUND POLICY
Due to the large amount of planning required for our Acting Out productions and several large upfront costs associated with producing a play, no refunds will be given for cancelled registrations unless we can fill your child’s spot in the production. If your child’s spot is filled, a non-transferable CREDIT (less a $20 processing fee) will be issued, which can be used towards any program at Arts Abound for up to 1 year after it is issued. CREDITS HAVE NO CASH VALUE.

ACCESSIBILITY AND SUPPORT NEEDS
Open communication is essential to creating a safe and inclusive environment for everyone. Please contact Arts Abound prior to registering to discuss your child’s needs.

Arts Abound is unable to provide any:
– Personal care support (e.g. administering medication, toileting, feeding)
– 1:1 Behavioural support to participate in programs
– Support for any violent and aggressive behaviours

If a child requires personal care, families are welcome to send a qualified 1:1 support person to attend with their child. Arts Abound reserves the right to remove a child from their program if the level of care and supports required was not accurately communicated at the time of registration.

UNMANAGEABLE, INAPPROPRIATE AND DANGEROUS BEHAVIOUR
Arts Abound reserves the right to remove a child from class, without refund, if their behaviour and/or the behaviour of their parent(s)/guardian(s) is deemed to be unmanageable, inappropriate, and/or is dangerous to themselves or others. Bullying and harassment – of any kind – will not be tolerated.

CLASSES
Classes will be offered in person at Arts Abound whenever possible. Our class schedule allows for one cancelled class per semester that will not be made up. If more than one class is cancelled due to weather or instructor illness, a make-up class will be scheduled.
If Arts Abound must close due to unforeseen circumstances—such as a government mandate, natural disaster, or public health emergency—classes will be moved online. REFUNDS/CREDITS WILL NOT BE ISSUED IF CLASSES ARE MOVED ONLINE.
